Sam grew up in the Pakenham/Kinburn area, and now lives in Arnprior with her husband and their barn-cat-turned-spoiled-house-cat, Finn.
A life long animal lover, she spent many years focusing on working, riding, and competing in the equine industry. Her main passion was show jumping but Sam got to try her hand in disciplines such as dressage and cross country as well. This passion for horses let her to enroll in the Equine Management degree at the University of Guelph. As part of the final graduating class to attend Kemptville College she enjoyed 2 years of hands-on and theoretical education. She was also involved in the Equine Committee for the school’s College Royal. After graduation from Guelph in 2017, she spent some time working at a breeding farm for Thoroughbred racehorses where she was part of a team caring for over 20 broodmares, their foals and yearlings.
She made the decision to move back to the Ottawa area to be close to family and spent several years working with dogs and cats at a boarding kennel. It was there she learned how to work with pets of many different personality types and developed an understanding for the behaviour of small animals. This love of small animals led her to join the MVS team in April 2021, fulfilling a childhood dream of being involved in veterinary care.
Sam spends her free time reading, antique hunting with her husband, and spending time with her family and friends.
