It is somewhat similar to a regular vaccine injection with the exception that the needle to insert the microchip is bigger than the needle used for vaccination. The chip is inserted at the back of the pet’s neck where the skin is loose. We do offer microchipping at the time of spay or castration (while your pet in under anesthetic) if you have concerns about it being an uncomfortable procedure. That being said many puppies are microchipped for CKC registration at a young age.
Microchipping is a safe and effective way to identify your pet in the event he or she became lost.
